Dance Echo

Body movement is an art that is given to us, some master it in its many forms, some simply loosely abuse it. But here’s something that gives body movement a different dymension, it enhances it through an echo effect to an almost surreal image.

Michael Langan and Terah Maher’s ‘Choros‘ is an experimental film that explores movement by using digitalized visual echo technique,  a scientific study originating from 1880s.

The clip  combines music, dance, and image multiplication to create a film that enhances our perception of motion. The dancer, Terah Maher, is engaged in a visual narrative, an experience of discovery, euphoria, and rebirth on Steve Reich’s composition ‘Music for 18 Musicians.’

So take your time and enjoy this magical experiment, a cinematic innovation and visual metaphor. A chorus of women borne from the movements of a single dancer in a dreamlike ‘pas de trente-deux’.
