‘Fashion as a whole is a farce’
We’ve had a long and depressing winter this year, so cold and without sense, it seemed like there was no way out of it. So when Cockaigne Magazine sent me the challenge to create a visual story for issue #3 based on an icon, I immediately related to the beautifully troubled icon of the 60s and the baffling destiny of Edie Sedgwick.
Her mysterious charm, that sparkling joy she inspired while hiding deep fears and insecurities, the popularity she enjoyed yet feeling alone, the illusion of a luxurious life and her entourage at The Factory that made Edie into a Warhol Superstar yet deteriorating her life.
The scenes in the shooting are inspired from the movie Factory Girl (2006), and describe her relationship with Andy Warhol, filming for his underground films, The Factory atmosphere and even recreated Warhol’s ‘Silver Clouds’ installation.
All outfits are Rue des Trucs, plus my version of the Rudy Genreich long sleeved dress which wears some of Edie’s quotes related to fashion.
Here is a selection of the images published in the magazine.
